Complement
Complement is a word or group of words that
completes the meaning of the subject, verb, or object.
Thus, there are three kinds of complement, namely: subject, verb,
and object complement.
1) Verb
Followed by Invinitive
is a verbal consisting
of particles to and from the simple form of the verb (bare infinitive) which can function as a noun, adjective, or adverb. Verbal is a word formed from the
verb, but it serves as another part of
speech. Another verbal gerund and
participle is. As with other verbal, this
word is more common to name (action) or (state).
Example:
- I want to come tomorrow.
2) Verb
Followed by Gerund
is
a word formed from (the verb) with the added (suffix)-ing and functions as (a
noun).
Example:
- They disscussed an article about
telling the truth.
B. Verb and Preposition Followed by
Gerund
Example:
- The suspect never confessed to killing
his husband.
C. Adjective and Preposition
Followed by Gerund
Example:
- The money will be devoted to protecting the environment.
